Summer Learning Program

This year we are starting a new program for summer work for our rising 1st through 8th grades.  We will be using an online service called MobyMax.  This program will allow the students to practice core subject skills.  This is an excellent opportunity for students who need a little refresher on some skills to get some extra practice.  It will also allow those students who are ready to move ahead to get introduced to more advanced skills. The work the students complete this summer will become a graded assignment for the first marking period.

We are requiring the students to spend 20 minutes a week on MobyMax doing Math.  They do not need to do all 20 minutes on the same day. We certainly understand that there may be times that your child can not get on the system; however this program can be accessed on any device that can connect to the internet.  Your child has been given a username and password that will allow them to log on to the program and continue in the lessons right where they left off.
We have set the program up to require a score of 80% accuracy before the students will be given access to a different skill lesson.  Your child’s first grade will be determined by the average of lessons he/she completes with 80% accuracy.
The students can earn “game time, badges, and awards “through MobyMax for the amount of time they spend engaged and for the score they achieve.  This is a great incentive for the students to spend time on the lessons and to do their best. There are also a number of other subjects that the students can work on however, the time spent on these subjects will not count toward their math and language arts time.
Go to the Website: www.mobymax.com click on the orange “sign in” box.  Your child will need to sign in “as a student,” fill in the school’s name “Lighthouse Christian School” and click find Select: DE Dagsboro.
Your child will now need to sign in using his/her username and the password.
Now click “sign in.” Your child will need to choose Math.
If you have any questions you can contact Ms. Debbie through the school office, 302-732-3309, Tuesday – Thursday 9am to 1pm and the office will relay the message to Ms. Debbie, who will get back with you as quickly as she can.
